Symplan is an urban and social planning practice supporting the private sector and Victorian state and local government in developing strategies that enhance health and wellbeing outcomes at the individual and community level. Symplan is frequently offered repeated opportunities to assist local governments in Victoria in their strategic planning and policy development processes. We have a proven track record of completing both large and small scale consultancy projects, and designing the processes and team to match the scope of the tasks and expertise required. We often form collaborations between consultancies selected on the basis of their expertise, proven experience in the industry and similar values and philosophy. In many instances Symplan is the lead consultant, taking full responsibility for the project management and delivery of the final product.
Being both an urban and social planner, Bonnie Rosen is finely attuned to those aspects of the built environment that facilitate people’s capacity to lead healthy, active and engaged lives.
Bonnie is a Registered Planner with Planning Institute of Australia with over 30 years’ experience in Australia and overseas. Bonnie is also an accredited mediator with the Resolution Institute Australia and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (UK).
Bonnie takes full responsibility for every component of the research projects undertaken by Symplan, ensuring that each process receives the full attention of a highly experienced urban and social planner.
We develop local planning and social policies to assist local governments in managing the location and operation of licensed premises and gaming venues. We have recently worked with the Cities of
Melbourne, Melton, Manningham and Maroondah, Wyndham, Hume, Whittlesea and Greater Dandenong.
Symplan has worked with the City of Hume, City of Whitehorse, Austral Bricks and MAB Pty Ltd to prepare community infrastructure plans and community needs assessments to ensure new and emerging communities have timely access to appropriate community infrastructure and open space.
Our expertise is used to prepare social impact assessments for large scale infrastructure projects such as the Westgate Tunnel Project, East West Link, Mornington Safe Harbour, AGL Crib Point Jetty and Pipleline Project and extension of the Epping Rail line.
Our strategic processes are guided by multi-level community consultation and stakeholder engagement processes guided by the principles of mediation and facilitation.
Bonnie Rosen is frequently called upon to appear as an expert witness before the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Planning Panels Victoria in the fields of gambling, licensed premises and large infrastructure projects.
Symplan's primary focus is planning for health and wellbeing, developing strategies and policies that enhance and facilitate healthy lifestyles. We have developed several municipal public health and wellbeing plans and mobility strategies for local governments, and been involved in the preparation of early years plans.
